Abbots Care Ltd Hertfordshire achieves Outstanding rating by CQC

Abbots Care Hertfordshire has received a fantastic report from the Care Quality Commission (CQC),  the independent regulator of health and social care in England.

The Hertfordshire branch is rated as Outstanding overall and for being caring and well-led, and Good for being safe, effective and responsive. This comes at a testing time for the health and social care sector but the staff at Abbots Care have been going a step ahead of their caring duties to ensure our customers continue to receive the best care in the county.

One customer said “All the staff that come and visit my [family member] I trust and feel confident that they will keep them safe. It gives me peace of mind when I cannot be there to know that they are safe living in their own home with staff that we can trust to do a good job.” Another customer stated “The staff the staff are gentle and kind, I think I am very lucky with the staff who come here.”

Despite the challenges recently faced by the sector, the Abbots Care leadership team have stepped up to these challenges these while ensuring the quality of service delivery remains unaffected. Customers told CQC staff are kind and caring and that they always felt consulted and involved in planning their care. “They are so very respectful, I can’t fault them. They look after me in a caring and loving way just as my family would if they could.”

Some key findings from the report include:

  • The provider monitored the service regularly and the staff held regular assessments to monitor the quality of service delivery, including learning from incidents.
  • Customers were involved in the running of the service to ensure their needs and values were included in their care plans.
  • Inspectors noted that the service kept up to date with best practice but also changes in safeguarding legislation, showing future planning and innovation.
  • They recruited caring staff with stringent processes in place to ensure the safety and wellbeing of customers.
