Meet Monique, our Assistant Management Accountant

Meet Monique, our dedicated Assistant Management Accountant. Starting as an apprentice, Monique quickly distinguished herself with her analytical skills and attention to detail. She has progressed through her career here at Abbots Care while completing numerous qualifications, enhancing her financial expertise. Monique’s commitment and growth make her an invaluable asset to our finance team.

Hi Monique, can you tell us about your role?

I work in the Finance Team as an Assistant Management Accountant.

I started off as a Finance Apprentice and was responsible for dealing with accounts receivables, accounts payables and credit control. I now work in the payroll team and I also support our Finance Director with the management accounts as well as provide analytical reports the business needs to make strategic decisions.

 

Can you tell us about your key responsibilities as a Assistant Management Accountant?

My key responsibilities are preparing and submitting the payroll on a 4 weekly basis, producing the management accounts reports on a monthly basis, along with the various schedules (Pre-payments, depreciation, IT costs, corporation tax etc.)  and providing other analytical reports to the senior management team.

Abbots Care funded my professional qualification which allowed me to qualify as a Chartered Accountant.

How did you get into this role?

I joined the finance team as a newly graduated accounting & finance student.

 

How long have you been with Abbots Care?

I have been at Abbots Care for 3 and a half years.

 

How has you career progressed at Abbots Care?

Over the years I have gained experience in a number of areas within the finance team, this includes accounts, payroll and management accounts.

Abbots Care also funded my professional qualification which allowed me to qualify as a Chartered Accountant.

 

How has your role aided in your personal development?

I have become more confident when speaking to external people and also the senior management team whilst discussing the reports I provide to them.

 

What courses / qualifications have you completed while working at Abbots Care?

I qualified as a Chartered Accountant in October 2023 through the help of Abbots Care, the company funded my lessons and exams and gave me the necessary work experience to qualify.

 

What is Abbot’s attitude towards investing in their employees and pushing them to achieve additional goals and qualifications?

Abbots Care has a very positive attitude towards investing in their employees and pushing them to achieve additional goals. The company is always open to providing additional training and always finding ways to push their employees to the next level.

 

Can you tell us what you love most about your role?

I enjoy working with numbers but most importantly having a friendly and supportive team. The friendly and fun environment makes me happy to come to work everyday and help make a difference.

 

What are your hobbies/ interests outside of work?

Outside of work, I enjoy travelling, going to concerts and spending time with my family.

 

What inspires you in your role every day?

What inspires me in my role every day is my career progression, learning new things, being a dependable team member and problem solving.
