Neil’s story

Neil, a long-time client of Abbots Care has been supported by our dedicated team for over eight years. Neil lives with Cerebral Palsy which has led to him becoming visually impaired and difficulty with his speech – but this never stops Neil in building lasting relationships with his care workers.  At Abbots Care, we are proud to support Neil with daily visits to ensure his daily care needs are met and offer valued companionship.

Supporting Neil’s hobbies and passions

Known for his unwavering devotion to Liverpool Football Club, Neil’s home reflects his love for the team and our care team loved to view and talk about the Liverpool memorabilia all around, including the latest Liverpool players calendar, Anfield Road signs, his trusty scarf  and a number of nods to the club itself.

What’s more, regular Care Worker, David, shares a unique bond with Neil, having met him in when joining Abbots Care a few years back and hitting it off at first meet. Their shared passion for football, especially Liverpool, has become a cornerstone of their friendship. David ensures Neil never misses a match, tuning into TalkSport Radio for live coverage at every opportunity.

A recent surprise for Neil

In a thoughtful gesture, David wrote a letter to Liverpool Football Manager Jurgen Klopp on behalf of Neil, expressing their shared admiration for the team. The surprise came when Jürgen Klopp personally responded, gifting Neil a signed picture. This heartwarming moment exemplifies the dedication of our compassionate Care Worker, David, who often goes beyond routine care, creating meaningful experiences.

David said:

“Neil is a massive Liverpool fan. We often listen to the European games on the radio during Neils bed call. I wrote a letter with a pic of Neil to Jurgen saying how much Neil loves what Jurgen has done at Liverpool and what the team means to him.I wanted to put pictures of Liverpool in Neil’s flat so new carers could maybe talk to Neil about his team. Neil loves to talk football. This will be even better as Neil will be very proud to talk about his signed picture!”  David, Care Worker, Abbots Care
