Team Spotlight: Intake Manager

Meet the team: Intake Manager, Ryan

We asked team member Ryan some questions to find out more about the all-important role of an Intake Manager. Ryan plays a vital role in starting your home care journey here at Abbots Care and most likely the first point of contact you have with us, so lets find out more.

What are your key responsibilities as Intake Manager?

As a Care Advisor and Intake Manager, my primary responsibility is to provide compassionate guidance and support to individuals and families seeking care services. This includes advising potential customers on the care packages that are best suited to meet their unique needs and circumstances, as well as explaining how funding for their care can work. In addition, I am responsible for organising new care packages taken by liaising with local authorities to support the intake of commissioned and funded care packages.  Ultimately, my goal is to ensure that every person receives the care they need with the highest level of compassion and understanding.

How did you get into your role as Intake Manager?

I was looking for a career change, after exploring many avenues, Abbots Cares’ values really stood out for me so I applied for the role.

What does a day in your work life look like?

My day-to-day activities involve a variety of tasks to ensure that our Service Users receive the best possible care. These tasks often include:

Organising schedules, reviewing Service User files, and coordinating with other team members.

Reviewing and responding to new referrals, gathering relevant information, and determining if our services are a good fit for the individual’s needs.

Contacting potential Service Users: Reaching out to potential clients to discuss their care needs, answer questions, and provide information about our services.

Conducting meet and greets introducing our carefully matched care team and consultations with clients and their families to create personalized care plans that meet their specific needs and preferences.

What three skills would you say are key to being successful in this role?

Communication

Compassion

High quality customer service

What are your hobbies/ interests outside of work?

I enjoy spending time with my family, a highlight of my week is coaching my son’s under 12’s football team. I also enjoy keeping active at the gym.

What brings you most joy in your role/ the most rewarding part?

It has to be supporting individuals and families to set up their package of care and hearing the relief in their voices when I tell them that Abbots Care can support their loved one and meet all their needs.

Why do you think someone should consider Abbots Care when starting their care journey?

It’s a great place to work with caring team members that all have the same goal: making a difference to people’s lives!
