Celebrating 30 Years of Compassionate Community Care

A Message From Our CEO Camille Leavold

As we celebrate 30 years of care, I’m filled with pride thinking about how far we’ve come. When my mum, sister and I first started Abbots Care in 1995, we were the only Care Workers, driven by frustration at how traditional agencies operated—putting profit before people. Back then, there was no regulator, rotas were handwritten, and training was minimal.

We’ve built something different. From day one, we put people at the heart of everything—our clients, our care workers, and our community. Over the years, we’ve seen care evolve, embraced technology, and developed a strong, values-led team. I’ve worked in almost every role here, and those experiences gave me a deep understanding of what care truly means.

Our greatest achievement is the lives we’ve improved—supporting families, empowering care workers, and developing a compassionate, skilled team. Today, 75% of our managers have come through our ranks. We still face challenges, but our resilience as a sector is unmatched. In the year just gone, we delivered 0ver 1 million hours of care in the community, a milestone we are so proud to have achieved.

After 30 years of care, my passion hasn’t faded. Abbots stands as a reminder that when you lead with heart, invest in people, and stay true to your purpose, real change is possible.

Abbots Care In Action

From our humble beginnings we have continued to expand, we now deliver care in Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and Dorset.

In our areas we have hosted tea parties alongside our regular care duties to ensure that our clients feel included in their community.

Here are just some of our favourite pictures from those special occasions!

Our Journey Since 1995

From paper files and fax machines to becoming innovators in home care, the past 30 years have been an incredible journey.

Working so closely with people brings countless highlights, small wins, and unforgettable moments. We’re deeply grateful to all our Care Workers—past and present—for being part of these memories.

To celebrate, we’ve created a timeline of key moments in Abbots Care’s story—from our very first care visit in 1995 to delivering one million hours of care in 2024-2025.

How We Will Continue to Support Local Families

As we mark 30 years of delivering outstanding care, we’re proud to share that in the past year alone, we provided over 1 million hours of care to individuals and families across our communities — a milestone that reflects three decades of commitment and innovation from our care team.

This achievement would not have been possible without our incredible team of Care Workers. Whether it’s day time visits, waking nights, live-in care, or tailored support for any other need, our Care Workers go above and beyond every day to make a difference in people’s lives.

As we celebrate the past and look ahead to the future, we remain dedicated to growing our impact and supporting even more families in the years to come. Contact us to find out how we can help you or a loved one today — and be part of the next chapter in our care journey.
