Abbots Care Completes Its Second Superhero Triathlon in Support of the Spinal Injuries Association.

A Thank You to the Abbots Care Superhero Team

This summer, an incredible team of Abbots Care office staff, family members and clients came together to take part in the Superhero Triathlon for the second year running, raising an amazing £1,350 in support of our partners at the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA).

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated and supported the event, as well as to Lady Marie, Ryan, Helen, Megan and Fola (and our mascot Betsy!) for taking on the challenge. Your enthusiasm, determination and commitment helped make the day a fantastic success.

More than just a sporting challenge, the Superhero Triathlon was an opportunity to come together and raise vital funds that will help support people living with spinal cord injuries and their families.

Thanks to the funds raised:

  • £106 could help cover the cost of a peer support session, providing individuals and families with valuable advice from someone with lived experience of spinal cord injury.
  • £260 could fund 10 counselling sessions for people adjusting to life after injury.
  • £400 could provide essential training for carers and healthcare professionals.
  • £46 could cover the cost of a call to SIA’s support line, offering urgent advice and guidance when it’s needed most.

With a shared commitment to supporting people in our communities, taking part in the triathlon for a second consecutive year was a fantastic way to turn our team spirit into meaningful action for a cause that means so much to us.

What is the Superhero Triathlon?

The Superhero Triathlon is a unique event that celebrates inclusion, determination and the power of teamwork. Designed to be accessible to people of all abilities, participants can choose how they take part, whether that’s swimming, cycling, running, or completing the course as part of a team.

For our Abbots Care team, the day was about more than crossing the finish line. It was an opportunity to come together, challenge ourselves and show our support for people living with spinal cord injuries. Supported by family, friends and colleagues, our team embraced the superhero spirit, giving their all while raising vital funds for an important cause.

Taking part for the second year running made the experience even more special, allowing us to continue supporting the incredible work of the Spinal Injuries Association while creating lasting memories together.

More About Spinal Injuries Association (SIA)

The Spinal Injuries Association (SIA) helps people affected by spinal cord injuries rebuild their lives with confidence and independence. Through specialist advice, peer support, advocacy and campaigning, SIA works to ensure that nobody faces a spinal cord injury alone.

At Abbots Care, we are proud to partner with SIA and support its mission to improve the lives of people living with spinal injuries. Together, we are committed to promoting independence, raising awareness and helping people access the support they need to live fulfilling lives.

As part of this partnership, our Community Nurse Assessor, Katie, provides specialist training to our care teams, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to deliver high-quality, person-centred support for people living with spinal cord injuries. This helps us ensure our clients can live as comfortably, safely and independently as possible.

Looking Back on Our Superhero Journey

This year’s event marked our second year taking part in the Superhero Triathlon, and we were proud to once again come together to support the incredible work of the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA). From office staff to clients, the event was a fantastic opportunity to challenge ourselves, celebrate inclusion and raise vital funds for a cause close to our hearts.

Our continued involvement reflects Abbots Care’s ongoing commitment to supporting people living with spinal cord injuries and promoting greater awareness of the challenges they can face. Through our partnership with SIA, we are helping to create better outcomes for individuals and families affected by spinal injuries, while ensuring our teams have the specialist knowledge needed to deliver exceptional care.
