Abbots Care Awarded CQC Outstanding Rating For The Third Consecutive Time

What Does an Outstanding Rating Mean?

We are proud to announce that our care services in Hertfordshire have been rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission for the third inspection in a row. It is one of the highest marks of quality a care provider can receive. This rating recognises the exceptional standard of care we provide and the leadership that supports our team every day.

Achieving an Outstanding rating is rare, with around 5% of care providers reaching this level. So, we would like to thank our care team for the consistent dedication and compassion they bring to their roles, helping us to reach this remarkable achievement.

For families this means peace of mind, knowing that their loved one is receiving the highest standard of support every day.

And for those considering a career in care, it is a clear signal that you will be joining a team where excellence, training, and support are valued, and where you can make a real difference as part of an Outstanding care team.

Speaking of the achievement, Camille Leavold Abbots Care CEO said:

“We are over the moon to receive the Outstanding rating from the CQC for the third time running – and in the year that we celebrate our 30th anniversary too. It is the highest recognition for our excellent, highly trained, hard-working care staff. It is rare for a home-care provider to get an outstanding rating on just one inspection, let alone three times running. Only 5% of adult social care services were rated Outstanding by the CQC in 2024 so this acknowledgement of the high standard of service we provide goes a long way to demonstrating to the local community how good the care is that we provide.”

Outstanding Care Services in Action

For us, outstanding care services means going above and beyond requirements. It is about the small and meaningful ways our team improves the lives of our clients – going the extra mile. From personalised support plans to simple gestures that show understanding and respect, our care workers ensure that every client feels listened to and valued.

One way we exemplified this was with our Tackling Loneliness campaign last Christmas which saw office staff and Care Workers come together and deliver over 100 hours of free companionship to clients we support. A campaign we are looking to repeat this winter.

We have continued to organise community events through our not-for-profit branch Abbots Friends to continue our companionship and outreach work all year-round.

The CQC report highlighted:

‘People felt staff had taken the time to get to know them and went above and beyond at times. People were involved in planning their care. Their care plans included all relevant information to ensure care was safe and person centred.’

‘People felt they were very well supported, and this was done with great kindness and care. Staff respected people’s individualities, choices and strengths.’

‘Staff responded to people’s needs well. Some people and relatives described staff as exceptional.’

Leadership That Inspires

Strong leadership is at the heart of our success. We push Care Workers to pursue their career ambitions by offering progression pathways both in the field and transitioning to our head office, allowing people to bring their care experience and knowledge into a variety of roles within the company.

One recent example is Madeline Turner, who joined Abbots Care straight from college and has already stepped into a leadership role. Her journey shows that ambition and compassion can grow side by side when people are supported to reach their full potential.

For Clients, this means they receive accurate communication relating to their care calls, as well as an efficient and safe service.

The CQC report said:

Clients told us staff and management were exceptionally kind and helpful. People felt very safe when supported by staff. People and relatives felt confident to raise any queries or concerns with the management team and that they would be resolved.

A Rare and Prestigious Achievement

Being rated Outstanding by the CQC is a remarkable accolade. It highlights the hard work of our team and the culture we have built, where care workers are empowered to make a real difference. This rating recognises the real impact our staff have on clients and their families every day.

We are grateful to our clients, their families, and our staff for helping us reach this milestone. Abbots Care will continue to focus on excellence, ensuring every client receives care that is personalised, safe, and truly outstanding.
