Peter Reflects: Life in Wartime, 80 Years Since VE Day

A big thank you to our client Peter for sharing his handwritten book of personal memories from the Second World War, marking the 80th anniversary of VE Day.

In his account, Peter reflects on how everyday life was transformed by the war, from rationing and air-raid sirens to constant disruptions to daily routines. He was just 12 years old when the war began and 17 when it ended, witnessing first-hand how these years shaped a generation. You can see the handwritten book below or read the digital version here
