Celebrating Professional Care Workers’ Week 2026

Professional Care Workers’ Week 2026

From 14th to 18th September, marking its ninth consecutive year of recognising and celebrating the incredible contribution professional care workers make every single day. Established by the Care Workers’ Charity, the initiative shines a spotlight on the Adult Social Care workforce and ensures frontline care professionals have a platform to share their experiences, insights and expertise.

Through a programme of free online and in-person events, webinars and discussions, Professional Care Workers’ Week brings together care professionals, sector leaders and industry experts to address the challenges, opportunities and future of social care.

Why Professional Care Workers’ Week Matters

Professional Care Workers’ Week is dedicated to celebrating and recognising paid care professionals whose careers are devoted to supporting others. This differs from unpaid carers, such as family members, friends or neighbours who provide care for loved ones. Both roles are invaluable, but Professional Care Workers’ Week specifically highlights the skilled, dedicated workforce delivering frontline care services every day.

Professionalism is at the heart of great care. For our clients receiving support, professionalism helps build trust, provides reassurance and ensures care is delivered safely, respectfully and consistently. Our care workers play a vital role in helping people remain independent, maintain their wellbeing and continue living life on their own terms.

At Abbots Care, we see the impact of professional care every day. Whether supporting someone with personal care, helping them regain confidence after a hospital stay, or providing companionship that reduces loneliness, our care workers make a genuine difference to people’s lives.

Exploring the Biggest Issues in Care

This year’s Professional Care Workers’ Week programme tackles some of the most important topics currently affecting the social care sector. Events cover a wide range of subjects, including:

  • Fair pay and workforce recognition
  • International recruitment, sponsorship and settlement
  • Digital wellbeing and technology in care
  • Career development and professional growth
  • Mental health and wellbeing support for care workers

These sessions provide valuable opportunities for care professionals to learn, share experiences and stay informed about developments within the sector.

Recognising the People Behind Exceptional Care

Understanding the importance of care is essential to delivering outstanding support. At Abbots Care, we are committed to supporting, empowering and celebrating the people who make our services possible.

That’s why each year we host our Abbots Care Awards, an opportunity to recognise the dedication, compassion and professionalism shown by our care teams across Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Dorset and beyond. These awards celebrate the individuals who go above and beyond to support our clients and embody everything that high-quality care should be.

Our Values in Action

At Abbots Care, our values are at the heart of everything we do. Every day, our care workers demonstrate these values through their actions, whether they are supporting a client to remain independent at home, helping a family through a challenging time, or simply taking the time to listen.

It’s their dedication, professionalism and compassion that make them such an important part of the Abbots Care family.

Behind every successful care provider is a team of exceptional care workers. They are the people who deliver care with dignity, build trusted relationships and enable people to continue living safely and independently in the place they love most: their own home.
